I hear ya! Getting pictures with nice backgrounds is difficult here too. I do like your suggestion for a mud wrestling contest!

We had rain the last 2 days an as they run out of their (dog crate) coop yesterday, they started skidding an sliding into each other lol
When I put them back in after dinner last night teenie the white one was completely covered in mud lol
She so needs a bath!!

Awww! It's quite amazing how such tiny birds can get along with bird Australorps and EEs. My Australorp hen ONLY lets Randy breed her, which is quite adorable since I have 2 roosters her size but she likes Randy. I live in Canada (Rose County) and I had to bring my old hens, Randy, my frizzle and my silkies inside because it was -50*C (for perspective -40*F & -40*C are the same temperature) outside with wind chill. Hopefully you don't have to but it's nice having an excuse to have chickens in my arms indoors lol. I know SO CUTE! And Randy is very charming, such a gentleman.

-43C without any windchill, don’t blink your eyelashes freeze together! Hahaha.

I have a nice big barn but if it gets down below -25C I leave the horses inside to try and keep it warm in there. Last winter we didn’t have one single day below -8C and hardly any snow - it was so nice. I bet this year will be a good old fashioned winter. I am already planing what to do with the silkies and OEGB. My Hen House is insulated so the birds keep it warm enough with their body heat, as long as it’s not below -20C outside.

If it get too cold I have a radiant heater with a thermostat I can pop in there, keep it at +5C.

I find they are fine to -10C but below that they get cold stressed. I use a sweeter heater and a Cozy Panel so they can snuggle up to warm up.

The manure pile is their fav location in winter
