I'm still new to chickens!You're probably going to get me in trouble for this, but everyone who agrees we should let Fred hatch these babies so we can see him raise them say "I".I mean who doesn't want to see a doting emu father raising his tiny dinosaur babies!
It is the norm for emu males to sit on the nests and raise the babies! Emu are just amazing creatures, breaking all the norms! The males are very sweet most of the time, while females tend to be a bit more aloof.
Sorry for the delay! There isn't necessarily a lockdown phase but you can stop turning after around day 40 if you choose. The babies are big enough to do their thing. I usually stop turning officially when I see the egg level out which means the chick has pipped into the air cell. That means they should be hatching in the next couple days
You're going to have to prove it and let him hatch and raise these babies with lots of pictures
