It's weigh in day! Oh and we have 9 more eggs that should arrive today to set!

How is everyone's eggs doing?

16 and counting. Have to get the other incubator fixed and get a chick pen up. First hatch is supposedly March 1st.

The old GQF is fixed! Just needed a new fan motor. Now to get it up to 97.5ish. Also just realized I have to manually put water in the thingy daily

Yay that is just a few weeks away! February always flies by. Soon you will have babies to cuddle hopefully!

Weigh in on Saturday was consistent with the previous weeks results. 12 on track 2 not losing ideal weight.

Oh and another 8 eggs went in yesterday! I have one replacement coming due to an issue with the original one and then we will set the rest of what the local guy has collected from his girl. We should set about 27 total. He has pre-orders for about 15 so hoping we have a successful hatch and lots of color!

Oh my, time is flying ever so slowly in the emu hatching world! The first round is almost 1/2 way to hatch! Weights are still consistent with two losing too little, but aren't stinkers so they keep their place. The first round has 14 and so does the the second round that is due 2 to 2.5 weeks after the first hatch. In about a week I can start watching for wiggles!

Do you have everything ready for chicks? I don’t lol It’s officially dirt bike racing season, so it’ll be a last minute dash to set up pens on Saturday. Then race Sunday morning.

I tested for wiggles on the very first two eggs that were set on 1/11. They’re both alive this will be the first breeding season where the first egg laid actually hatches.

I need to order a bag of feed, but other than that I will just need to pop up the brooder. I use a 57" pop up play pen type thing. It works great for all species and I can rinse it out and fold it up and put it away!

That's so fun you saw wiggles! You only have a couple weeks to go! What colors are you expecting? You have all 3 colors of adults, right? Are they all of breeding age?

I liked that pop up playpen idea so much that I just bought one lol not really feeling the whole building a pen thing right now.

2 males and 2 females. The standard male and white female have paired up (100% blonde chicks). The blonde male and standard female have paired up (50% blonde/50% standard chicks).

But I’ve seen them randomly pair up with each other lately, so all colors are possible. Will most likely see a bunch of blondes.
