2026 Emu Hatch-Along

Pics
@ShannonsChimkens I am so glad that you like the pen! I tried one of those but wound up with this one, jumbo size! I like it because I can use it with chicks too and they can't fly out!

Any more babies yet?

#3 hatched last night. Another blonde male. #4 from the standard female may not hatch. It could have a deformity or is just a weak chick that won’t thrive. It’s still in the membrane and hasn’t even tried to exit or make an air hole in the membrane.

I have a question. I had problems with the incubator at my egg's original weighing and set the humidity to high so they have not lost as much weight as they should have at this point. Should I decrease the humidity to compensate? I have it set as 32% now but I don't know if I will have problems if I decrease it to much.
I’m trying to think what I would do in that situation. I would probably set the humidity level a little lower for a bit so things can even out. That’s a tough one though. What day are they on?

Day 33. They're between 7-18g over what they should be and one outlier at 22 over.

Have you checked for wiggles? At day 33 you should be able to start seeing signs of life. When you take the eggs out of the incubator it will slowly roll into its natural position and you will be able to see a lean. Then you can talk or whistle to it. In my experience a baby will move and the egg will wiggle if there is a chick on there. It can make your eyes go crazy. Sometimes they are sleeping though too so don't be discouraged if you don't see wiggles. Wiggles get really noticeable as you get to day 35 and beyond. Also, if you leave them out for a few minutes you may notice the non aircell side stays warmer than the aircell side which can mean a live warm chick too.
