2026 Emu Hatch-Along

It hatched! Along with a second last night. The second chick had some stuff in the egg with it, and there was a drop of greenish white fluid were the umbilical cord is. Do you know what this is?View attachment 4317169
Congratulations! The rule is, we don't believe there are babies unless we see pictures 🤣

That is an odd amount of hatching debris. There is always some, but that looks a little different than what I usually see. It's the babies yolk site on its belly fully closed?

Yes, it seems to be doing alright so I'll probably just keep an eye on it.
Also pictures.

Anyone’s blondes have blue eyes? I just sold a chick and realized both his eyes are blue. Have only seen whites with blue eyes and blondes with brown.

Maybe I need to get out more 🤔
Um... YES! I noticed the little Blondie I have has blue eyes the other day. I did a little research and I guess that can happen and they may or may not stay blue or they might change by the time they hit a year old.

Also I probably won't be quitting my day job because I thought I had five boys that hatched but it was really only three boys and two girls. Apparently I don't know my emu "business" all that well just yet.

Update: The little blonde that I was tube feeding is officially off of being tube fed and eating all by her big girl self and no more stumbling/somersaults! I'm so happy she made a full recovery. She's just the sweetest little thing.

Nicely done nursing her to health!

I knew those all boys were some crazy odds!
