22 day old silkie eggs inc

Hi I’m inc for first time silkie eggs. Had 8, 5 infertile yolkers, 3 well veined, but one has saddle air bag. Day 22. No pipping. Any ideas on what next step should be? Thank you!

Any peeping sounds?

What bator, what temp, what humidity? Eggs from your flock or someone else's? Shipped? Did you use a calibrated thermometer?

No external pips, if you don't hear peeping... candle now.

I agree to check for sounds. Put the eggs up to your ear. You may be able to hear some pipping. I'd candle as well.

I literally JUST heard peeping! Oh my goodness I’m so super happy!! I grabbed an egg really quick out of inc (I figured a few seconds wouldn’t hurt also I’m in humid Florida) and peeping was super loud I probably could have heard inside inc. today is actually day 22 if I have a zero day

So your temp might not be completely accurate since chicks are hatching late.

Since you heard peeping in a little while there will be external pips. That means they have pipped into the internal air sac. After the external pip the chick may rest up to 24 hours before unzipping.

Oh thank you so much eggcited4life! Love that name btw. I’m such a nervous nelly right now. I’ll keep u updated and pictures too. I think for next inc eggs I’ll adjust temp a little. Would you adjust next time to higher or lower temperature? Thank you!

I’m sort of documenting this experience bc it’s so coolokay 24 year old daughter visiting able to hear chick moving?! I couldn’t hear it though lol
