I've got 5 chicken eggs that were 22 days this morning at about 9AM CST. I've got good temps, good humidity - but still not seeing any real movement or hearing anything and am concerned.

I don't want to open the incubator to check on them - am trying to be patient, just my first time hatching eggs so looking for suggestions?

I was thinking to give it until tomorrow morning which would be day 23 - I did candle just before lockdown and 5 of the 6 looked viable - one didn't develop, so it was removed.

Should I do the float test? I hate the thought that something went wrong - but don't want to rush either.

What date did you set them? What has the temperature and humidity been, and did you calibrate your instruments so you know they're accurate? Is your incubator still air or forced air?

Start date: 22 April 2018
Temp: 37.5C
Humidity: 55%
Incubator is forced air

Unfortunately - I did not calibrate :(

Were you going off the display on the incubator, or did you have separate instruments in there? If you have a thermometer that you can test with the ice water method, I'd test it and see what it says.

How did the air cells look when you candled? For me 55% humidity would be too much, but it might have been okay for your location.

Sadly - the bator I'm using didn't have room for much else in it - the air cells did look good when I candled, and I can report that we are hearing faint chirping now.

That's good, sounds like they have internally pipped. I'd bet the temp is actually running a little low.

Yeah - I'll not do this again with out calibrating. Hopefully they are doing the internal pip and make it. The eggs were a gift, but I still hate the thought of it being something I did wrong causing them not to make it.
