24 Orpington Eggs in the bator -6 week update

After the loss of 3 batches of blue/black/splash my kids were terribly disappointed. They had no interested at all in these eggs. "She's checking her old eggs again, " you would hear them say if I wasn't present downstairs.

When these eggs started to hatch they were glued to the bator the same as I was.

This hatch has been wonderful to share with all my children. My oldest dd remembers our days in Ga and hatching eggs but the memories are a bit vague she says. My 10 yr old dd was just awe struck watching them unfold from the shells. She has her own camera and took tons of photos for herself. My 2 yr old DS wants to see the 'chick dees!" and can't figure out why nothing else is in the bator waiting to hatch!

My DH has never experienced a live hatch and he too was intrigued and came up a few times for a look. He is impressed with how active and healthy the chicks are and how soon they are up and running after hatching.

This has been one of the best experiences for me with my kids.

We are all highly expectant of the next batch of eggs coming soon!

I would like to photo and continue to documant these chicks maybe once a week for 4 - 6 weeks. Then again later around 12 weeks as they are fully feathered and growing.

Thank you all for the compliments!

They are beautiful! What a wonderful thing to share with your children. My dd is looking forward to helping me w/ my first hatch very soon. I think it will be a cherished memory that she will have forever. I can't wait! She often is right here w/ me researching, so we'll be prepared. Mu husband still remebers being right by his grandpa's side during many hatches.

O'kay, TOH, what do you think?

I have too but you know how you hold them and play with them and their personalities just seem to scream one gender or the other? Some of these I am very sure of. I KNOW they are roos. I would be shocked to say the least if it turned out to be a pullet. LOL

They are growing like weeds!!!...Love that little buff/blue.......I won't dare try to tell their gender til they are 4 weeks old.....I'm not usually fooled by that age...lol
