I candled Saturday night / sunday morning - the very wee hours!

5 I think are going to stay clear I am waiting until day 10 and will candle those again before removing them
1 looks to be developing a blood ring, the shell is mottled and I can't be sure yet I'll have to look again
5 the shell is mottled and I am having a hard time seeing through but I think I see veining
13 all have major veins

8 of those 13 - OMG!!!!!! They are jumping and dancing and pulsing inside the shell like crazy. I stood in the dark with my little surefire G2 and was completely amazed. It was like Esther Williams and water ballet!

TuffOldHen - The eggs collected on 2/5 and 2/6 and 2/7 are the ones with the most extreme activity. I am tickled pink!!!

Thanks for the up-date....I'm alittle dissappointed on the fertility rate since I hand delivered them!!...I cracked eggs for a week before gathering to make sure of fertility.....I have 2 roos in the pen with 12 girls so should have been better results...

Just as soon as the Brahmas hatch and my company leaves I'l set another batch of Orps and see how they do here.....

All hope isn't lost! I am giving them several more days before I toss anything I think is clear. The best I can tell at least 18 of them are doing something but what stages those somethings are isn't clear yet!

I love to see the jumping and pulsing inside the egg, it's just amazing to me and I think I will never tire of it. Gives me a lil thrill each time!!!

Congrats that the incubating is going well !!!

I could not wait for tomorrow so I candled the eggs tonight.

I have =

1 with a blood ring
1 with clear signs of a chick that died sometime in the first week
6 completely clear

So far 16 are really looking good and showing development and signs of movement in the egg.

TOH, all of the eggs dated for 2/4 have failed to grow. Was that the day you had that deep freeze over that side of the mountains?

Yes....and this week below zero and no one is hardly laying for me in that pen....I'm blaming it on fowl

weather...
