24 Orpington Eggs in the bator -6 week update

Katy, my girls had a package of those little rubber bands in different colors that they do braids in their hair with - you know the ones about the size of a dime? I picked out different colors and when I ran out of colors I doubled up with 2 different colors. It works well. They are very stretchy and easily fit over the big feet but hang loose around the leg.

It won't be long before I have to find something else. They are growing super fast. I was looking at the commercial bands and I don't want to buy all one color. I haven't found anything that comes in all mixed up colors. I don't want those big things with numbers on them either. And the cost! I don't want to pay $10 plus shipping for 50 little rings!! I think I am going to Sally beauty supply and see what is the next step up in pony tail holders and rubber bands.

I still like the colored velcro strips the best....mine are still on my birds and easy to increase as the bird grows...

I don't have a pencil or paper in front of me ...lol ...I would have to keep going back and forth!...

#6 looks splash orp pullet..the last black looks pullet too, the others look like what you have said...it's a waiting game for sure...

You always get way more cockerals then pullets...its the way of the world!...I can't wait to get home and see if I can now start telling the light brahma cockerals from pullets...I'm sure I have 12 cockerals and 1 hen...lol...just watch...

Thank you, Sandy! I was trying to remember what someone said about marking chicks and that was it!

Beautiful chicks you have there, Priss.

It was in the 70's here today. The sun and the air was warm. The chicks had their first day out in sun. It was warm enough they spent several hours flopped out in the grass.

They are growing so fast!

Thanks, Cyn.

Well, TOH, it will be my turn to pass on a beautiful blue orp cockeral to someone wanting to start a flock. LOL
