Howdy everyone been a few months and I would like to try another guess at the sex. This 24.5 week old chicken is very sweet, the smallest and comes over when I call, other than some cute general chicken noises I haven’t heard any crowing or bawks.

This is still a hard one for me. I don't see any obvious hackles, but that comb could go either way at this point.

Do you see any straighter feathers in the tail? I don't see any, but silkie hens tend to have a neater, even ball back there, where roosters have a messier one.

Debbie is right, hard to know but it doesn't have any obvious cockerel signs.

I'm going to say pullet, she is just over 6 months old, while there are some lines of silkies with very feminine males, I am going to say this is likely a pullet.

With her age and spring coming, if it is a pullet, I would expect an egg to show up soon (soon meaning anywhere from tomorrow to 4 months from now ;))

She is very round in the back like a ball.

lol yes I don’t expect eggs from the silkie till the spring, but would welcome anything sooner than that. They are just so darn cute. Will hopefully catch the white one tomorrow and ask about her sex also.

I had some I hatched in late July and they started laying in January. I think that's a bit abnormal though, that group has been amazing layers.
