25 RIR's shipped Dec. 29 Brooder pics on page 2 Thoughts???

Quote:
I got 26 RIR 's in November. They will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. You can tell the roos from the pullets right away. They have black markings on their backs and the girls don't.I asked for 3 roos and got exactly that.
I am really enjoying my RIR's so far.I used the 250 red lamp initially, but it got to hot.I switched to a 100 watt as their temp need went down
They grow REALLY fast and were out of our first brooder in a week.
My roos are just this week starting to do the chest bumping thing and shoving the hens around.
I have been putting mine outside this week ,during the day. It's in the 70's here and they are just loving it .Fun to watch.

Not here yet but I am expecting them tomorrow. At least I hope they come in tomorrow because the post office will be closed Thursday.l
Will post pics as soon as they arrive. I will also try to get pics of my brooder I have set up and warming up tonight.\\

you should be really happy with the rir's.. i've had super good luck with mine.. i have a flock of about 30 and they are still laying really well even with the crazy oklahoma weather we have.. 70 degrees one day and 21 the next.. i love them so much that right now i have about 250 babies from hatching at this very moment to 6 weeks old.. and about 300 eggs in the incubator.. so hope everybody else loves them this spring too!!!! happy new year to everyone...

Ok here are the pics of my first attempt at a brooder box. It is in the coop and is about 4x4. when they outgrow the box I intend to take down the wall and allow the chicks the run of the coop with the heat lamps of course.
