Den.... they free range all day and i feed them starter 2X a day. Also, I have a hen that does lay, but has stopped. I guess a bunch of peoples hens stopped laying. is it the time of year or something?Sometimes they take a while to mature. What are they eating? Do they free range?
Chook..... No, this is how I feel at the restaraunt when I'm waiting too long for my food. Im getting hungry, can we hurry it up here a little?beats me... I am waiting too! is this how men felt in the waiting room 50 years ago???
Feeding them starter will make no difference to when they start. The point of asking about free ranging is that new layers can find places to lay other then the nest boxes we want them to lay in. I'd start watching where they go and look for places they might find to lay in. The hen that stopped, may have decided the youngins found a good spot and is making her deposit there, or she is going into molt.
Thanx Den..... They all like to hang out under the shed. It is up on blocks, and I check with a flashlight under there daily. The only thing I see under there is alot of bathing spots, but no eggs. Jackie may be going into molt. She looks a little frazzled, but no more than what she usually looks like from Big Boy getting onto her.
