26 week old pullets--half are laying, okay to switch feed?

Thanks so much you guys for the advice!

The current bag only has about 2 pounds left so tonight when I bought their feed I went ahead and bought the layer crumbles and a small sack of oyster shell. I put the oyster shell in a separate dish and mixed some layer in with the starter. I got 2 eggs tonight.

I was surprised they were still warm as it was 20 degrees all day long. Must have just timed it right...lol

Thanks for posting this question moms22. And thanks for all the knowledgeable replies. It is exactly what I came here looking for.
I have 9 EE and 10 sex links all are 16 weeks, I am getting 1 or 2 eggs each day. I guess after reading this I will go hunt up some sort of in between feed. Less protein than starter but low calcium than the mash that I feed my older flock.

Well since my last post about mixing the feeds, 5 of my 7 girls are now laying

I have since added a separate bowl of grit since they love to eat green stuff for treats and a bowl of crushed oyster shell in case they need it. Can I just say how dang YUMMY my girls' eggs are?? This is awesome

Thanks to all for the advice and hope everyone has a great weekend!

My feed store has no idea what I'm talking about when I ask for flock raiser(I'm in Australia)! They also keep telling me there is no unmedicated pullet grower. I find this unbelievable. I can see that purina and Lauke make one. Any advice from other Aussies????

Hi Jacqdiva. I am in North Queensland and had the same reaction from my feed store. I searched the internet and found Jenco Poultry Feed has not medicine in their Pullet Grower, all ingredients are natural and RAM free. Unfortunately not all the feed stores stock Jenco Feed, but I found a stockist 35km from where I live. If you go to Jenco's website, you can search for a stockist in your area. Hope that will help.
