I have two that are 25 weeks and are not laying. My Salmon favorolle and my golden Wyandotte. I was wondering when they would start. what breeds do you have?? I am new to chickens. I have a Cinnamon Queen that has been laying since September and my RIR just started a couple weeks now.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure they are getting the nutrition they need and aren't sick. I've had one chicken start laying after 8 months and one at 20 weeks. It's perfectly normal to have late layers.

My Salmon Faverolle actually started laying as soon as my Rhode Island Red did. My Easter egger and my 2 Olive Eggers are all laying, as are my 2 bantams. The only 3 chickens not laying right now are my black australorp, my buff orpington, and my light Brahma

They're all happy and healthy, and the brahma gets a pass because they're late bloomers. I'm just surprised by the australorp and the buff orp.

Mine was super sweet from day one, but aggressive for food. Otherwise, let's me pick her up and is pretty docile. Her eggs are a pinkish hue and barely bigger than the 2 bantam chicken eggs!

I don't know what bantam eggs look like!! lol

It's also possible for pullets who come of age in the fall to delay laying until spring due to short daylight hours.

This has often been the case for me. If a pullet isn't laying by September, it seems like a 50-50 chance as to whether she will wait until Spring to start laying.
