28 weeks and still no eggs

When I saw the Pic of the Brahma, @SLOChick , I knew she would be late to lay - the breed is famed for starting late, and though they are also renowned for laying over winter, they do have to actually start, first. I have a handful, all beginning their seventh month (technically, week 28 for them, they entered the flock May 6), and as of this AM, none are laying. Hens seem to keep a laying calendar all their own - more rules of thumb and "around abouts" than firm dates.

and @Kimmys78 has a Wynadotte, also often late to lay according to many (but not all) sources. Mine are still too young to have first hand experience

Is this poop on the egg?? I finally have three eggs today but this small one I found outside the coop. Not sure which hen it came from, my golden or salmon favorolle they may all be laying now too not sure. Wish I knew if all four were.

Phew! I’m not alone! I have four, hatched April 26: Buff Orpington, Austra White, Silver Cuckoo Marans, and Green Queen EE, and only the Austra is laying. She started in early Nov, and we’ve had 8 eggs from her. The other three are happy, healthy freeloaders 😂

Nope, not alone. I'm convinced some of my Brahma are going to wait for spring, and my SLW are just hitting their 16th week, so its quite likely they will delay till spring as well.

Your EE is of uncertain genetics most likely, so won't even suggest a date for her. The range given for most Orps is 6 months +/-1, so you are likely looking at early spring for her, too - either she was going to start before the days got noticeably short, or she was going to delay... Marans, I'm completely ignorant of - my internet search won't be any better than yours.
