So this sweet girl is 2 mo old. Barnyard mix. EE and ?? I never noticed an issue until about a month ago and she was more secluded and in a corner more than usual. All the chicks (she is one of a 23 chick hatch) are in the main coop now and she is always by herself and all hunched up. He crop was always pretty empty. I pulled her because she looks like the others have been pecking her back. I noticed her breastbone it sticking way out forward. None of her bone structure feels right when I pick her up. She has more of a penguin walk.
When I moved her out of to e coop to a brooder she ate and drank like crazy! Poor girl was starved. Now she eats and drinks regularly without competition but her crop never feels full. Her back is healing and she is getting a few feather regrowing.
Anyone have anything similar before? I’m all about trying. I got a EE with only one eye. She was a July hatch (from a hatchery) and is laying pretty blue eggs with the best of them. I have a red hen (given to me so I don’t know her age) she hasn’t laid for 6 months, in a corner all the time and possibly blind and I brought her back to a beauty and she has given me 3 eggs in the last 4 days!!!
So I’m not quick to give up. I just don’t know if with all the bone structure issues if this little pullet is going to have more issues as she grows and develops. I do not want her to suffer.
Thank you!!
