2mth old Chick w/ LARGE HOLE in Chest! PLEASE READ?

Alu-shield... That is great to hear about. I was hoping for something like this back in beginning of her injury and didn't know about it!

*Update* Skittles is showing no signs of illness. She is spunky and wanting to be with her friends. She eats and drinks well and we are not seeing any leaking. She is covered at this moment and I have a busy day. But later I will undo her dressing and re-clean and evaluate. I'll let ya know what it looks like and maybe take pics. Praying she can go out with her pals soon! Only if she keeps the covering on so as not to get re-injured until the skin heals (if possible).

I have a Frankenstein Chick with a ripped neck and he doesn't seemed to be picked on with this shiny space stuff on his neck. It really creates a nice skin like surface, and being aluminum, I don't think it tastes very good.

LOL@frankenstein chick. I'm glad he's doing well. We call our goose Frankengoose after his major stitch job from a dog attack. To me, it's beautiful though.

Isn't it amazing how resilient these birds can be if they at all have the will to live?

**UPDATE** SHE LIVES!

Skittles is growing so much that she is too big for the tank! So we moved her last night to a chicken cage within the coop so she can integrate with the flock from behind bars for a few days until we think she can re-join them. She is still feisty as ever and ready to get on with chicken life. Its unbelievable to me that a chicken can live with her injury and not bat an eyelash. Simply amazing. God blessed us when he created chickens!

(The skin is red now which I hope means it is granulating over and healing.... Woo-hoo! We can see her stitch and so far it is intact. No drainage.)

Great news! And so glad you posted an update. Sure sounds like nice granular tissue. Also sounds like she is over the hump.

It is indeed amazing what they can recover from. Suspect they hold some keys to helping people heal better.
