2nd incubation no sign of life help!!

I have been checking eggs I put in my incubator 9 days ago. A friend looked at them saturday and tried to get me to scrap half of them...my dad said not to. I checked them again tuesday, especially the ones that had "rings" and there were veins and a moving dark spot...I watched it for a bit and there was certainly something moving around. My friend said they will still move around even if they are dead. I just dont believe him. Does a dead fetus swim around? I do worry because there is a ring but I think they are alive

It doesn't "swim" around. But will move as you move the egg. A blood ring denotes death, BUT if there is still veining and you're in doubt, I agree as long as it doesn't stink leave it in. Are you hand turning the eggs by chance? When you hand turn and you candle it looks totally different than when you are using a turner and it can appear to have a ring around the embryo. It's hard to explain. What ever side was facing up when you pick it up will have the development it will almost look like a circle or ring around it. As you turn the development will turn as well and come back to whatever side is facing up. Until the chick is formed it will look as though it's only developing on one side of the egg. You're best bet is to leave it in the incubator. If you have any that smell, those need to come out.

Thanks AmyLynn! I hand turned them for the first 2 1/2 days but bought a turner and transferred them to it. I do understand what Im seeing now that you have described it and I have been sniffing my eggs...lol. Thank you, I will just keep watching them close for odors and movement. I do appreciate your help, its my first time hatching and omg...my nerves!
