I have a black rose comb hen. Last Summer she sat on 12 eggs. She only hatched 1 out of 12. The majority of the eggs had a dead baby chick in them. They just died before hatching.
Last month I incubated 4 of her eggs. 3 of the 4 hatched. The 4th was not fertile.
This past Saturday she started setting again. This time only on 6 eggs. I sure hope I have a better percentage hatch.
Does a hen get better with each hatch? Wonder what happened to the chicks last year??
