Hello!! My name is Katrina I’m a Registered Veterinary Technician and phlebotomist.
My pap and I had plans to get chickens to raise. It was a dream of his for one of his grandkids to raise chickens. Unfortunately he passed away before the dream could become a reality. March 2018 I purchased my first set of chickens or should I say a 12 piece chicken McNugget. Lol. 6 NHR and 4 Light Brahma and 2 buff brahmas.
I was given a barred rock rooster who turned out to be mean and would attack anything and everything. My live stock guardian dog had enough from him and he met his maker.
Later on I was given 2 Ayam Cemani roosters and 1 buff Orpington hen and 1 barred rock hen. Both roosters have been wonderful and they both take care of the lady’s.
I unfortunately I lost my first hen this year a light Brahma from egg yolk peritonitis.
I took another adventure and hatched 12 babies from my flock and 8 from a friends flock. Ended up having an 80% hatch rate. 16 wonderful baby chicks but of course I ran to southern states and bought 4 turkins and 4 welsummers. So in total I have 39 chickens *cough* I mean 15 chickens in chicken math terms.
I love having eggs that I know what they’ve been fed and have the best possible care. They love to free range and get treats. At night they purr/sing while sleeping.
During my research on different questions I’ve had I would google and your web page would pop up. I just recently decided to join.
