Ok so I have a variety of ladies....
2 Rhode Island Reds
2 White Orpington
1 Buff Orpington
1 White leghorn
2 Partridge rocks
1 Lt. Brahma

Now I have a SC single comb leghorn Roo.
(not matching any of these breeds)

What would happen.....is it possible..... can I let her......
get broody and hatch some eggs??

If we let one of the ladies do this, is it OK to mix "breeds" ?
What would they look like?
Is this normal?
Would they be Ok?

Ultimately can I let that baby be a mama too?
or is this interbreeding?

Sorry, but totally a city gal and don't know how this works.
All I know is that I have breeds whom I assume mamma & daddy were the same.
So what happens if they are not the same??

People mix breeds all the time. Sometimes you get something cool. Sometimes not. You never know what the results will be. The only thing to keep in mind is that most people aren't looking for mutt chickens. If you can't keep all the chicks you hatch it will be harder to find homes for them.

Currently I'm planning to run 1 black tailed white and 1 black tailed buff japanese bantam roos with japanese bantam, old english game bantam, easter egger, and possibly some large brown egg laying hens. I plan on hatching at least the EEx jap crosses since the offspring should still lay colored eggs.

Then you get a mixed breed that you can't sell as a purebred but will be a wonderful chicken, capable of producing more wonderful chickens. How do you think breeds came about in the 1st place? Many many chickens are mixed.
