This little chick has white thick copious discharge from his vent when I pulled him from the brooder yesterday. Another chick picked at him yesterday and his tail area is red and raw and he himself seems to be plucking at it. I cleaned it off yesterday with poultry spray and put a Blu cote on it and separated him. At first I thought it was a pasty butt but this is not poop it’s creamy with no blood in it. He stands like his hind end hurts. I’ve had some say to give protein and olive oil, or do a monistat and ACV in the water with yogurt. I don’t notice an odor. I just checked one of the other 3 and she seems to have a tiny bit of white oozing now this morning. They have been on medicated feed all but one day since hatch and also Sav a chick. What is this? I don’t want to lose this batch of chicks! I was thinking Vent Gleet but it’s soooo thick.

The chick may have thrush (yeast infection) or a bacterial infection. First try treating for thrush. Get some Monistat (or generic miconazole) vaginal yeast cream if you are in the US. European vaginal creams may contain benzyl alcohol and may be toxic.

Give a small amount twice a day directly into the beak by wiping your finger with the cream on it off just inside the chick's beak. Do the same in its vent after cleaning gently with witch hazel to soothe and shrink vent tissue.

If this is a yeast infection, you should see improvement in just a couple days, but keep up treatment for seven days.

If the chick gets sicker and the condition doesn't improve, then I suggest you give it an oral antibiotic.

Thank you!! He doesn’t seem interested in eating like a crazy man like he usually does which is understandable. I have Nutri Drench should I give that too today?

The Nutri-drench is in a molasses base. I would hold off giving that until the treatment is finished as sugars aggravate yeast. Give the chick boiled egg or tofu if it doesn't feel like eating chick food.
