2x4 fencing for the run?

Thanks for all the input everybody After we had a predator problem at night last fall we installed a stronger door and started locking the flock up every night in the coup. I think I will use the 2x4 wire and reinforce the bottom few feet with standard chicken wire. Thanks All

We plan on using 2"x4" wire for our run, with a smaller 1" chicken wire around the outside bottom 3 feet (plus an apron), I think you'll be fine! We are using hardware cloth on the coop, where our chickens will be locked up safe at night!

i have used only hardware wire cloth, 1/2", i have even burried it in my ladies secured area. 1/2" is tried and true. the only thing that may get thru is a snake.
we do have lots of snakes (and i HATE snakes) on our property. i believe it is because of the creek and woods area.
the hens put up a real fuss when they see a snake and once an ISA Brown ate one that was about 12" long... whole.
did i say i hate snakes... they terrify me and there isn't a day that i work outdoors that i don't come across one.
