Here is my question, my peeps are about 3 1/2 weeks old....they are in an rubbermaid tub with a large extension on top....they are in my livingroom, which I dare say is about 70-75 most of the time....now when the temps outside go up...i have turned thier light off, sometimes they go on about thier business and don't cause a reckus....and then....there are times...when they go absolutely nuts and all huddle up, like they are freezing....now, they are soon going to have to go outside...they should be getting over needing the light...shouldn't they...It is almost like they just want attention....i turn the light on....they are happy...then it gets warmer in house...i think..i'll turn the light off for a bit.....and they will be fine..til they realize....then here we go, I mean....seriously....I by no means want them to be cold....and I know they can't possibly be...but they sure do put on a show....until I turn the light back on.....could they just feel safer with the light....I can't imagine they are cold by any means....

The easier way to get them used to lower heat is to either raise the bulb substantially, or better, use a lower wattage bulb.

At almost 4 weeks of age, inside a warm house, inside a tub, there should be very little need. Your instincts are correct, they need acclimation to the real world. You could also transfer them to a much, much larger box as part of the process. Step at a time. Every couple days, take a step in that direction. By 6 weeks of age, 16 days from now, they need to be "hardened off" similar to plants for your garden.
