Ok here is my "ugly duckling" chicken with an attitude. I took a new side pose of him and then tried to get a picture of his comb. Didn't seem to want to hold still for that - so it's blurry. The points on his comb aren't in a straight line like the RIR I have - and I am having a hard time fitting it to the descriptions I have been reading on comb types. Also - he(?)has feathers towards his backend that come to a sharp point. I don't know if any of this information will help ID his breed or not. Supposedly he is either from Schlecht hatchery or a farmer who keeps his flocks "pure".

Thanks for any input!

Ah, the mystery bird the hatchery sends. I can't be sure right now, but the scales on his feet look slightly green tinted. If they really are it is more than likely an Americana. Hatcheries love to sell these. What kind of birds does your neighbor have?

I hatched him from an egg. The feed store that sold us the eggs told us that the only two places they got them was schlect (sp) or this farmer guy. She was going to find out from him what kind of chickens he has - but I haven't had time to get back to her. Yeah - his legs started out yellow but now have that wierd green color coming in. I'm rahter hoping that he is really a she:D His personality has really grown on me!

wellll idk much about white breeds... but some of them are .... pearl white leghorns, ummm..... too small to be a cornish i believe... ummmmmm... its not a feather footed breed.... hmmmmmm.
a VERY good site to look at is http://feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKPoultryPage.html when ever i have questions about breeds i always go here.. its in alpabetical order in groops on the left... click on one and search thru names... you could find and answere... hope i helped!

well from a side view it looks alot like a girl. no comb or wattles.. and if it was a boy then you would probly see some definate defination. i have never seen a pure white easter egger before.. thats what it would probly be if it has greenish legs. hope u find something out!
