3/4" untreated Floor

IM not sure what i used. I used Kilz primer, but i think i put a latex over it. If i have oil based exterior left over, i was thinking about going over it again with that.

The only problem with oil on the floor is that if you have a water spill, or the humidity gets real high and there's a crack in the paint and some of the water gets into the wood, it can't get out again and you're more likely to have peeling and bubbling. oil is fabulous for washability, but I wouldn't use it on the floor, just in case. Painted like it is, it would probably be fine, especially if you check for any spots that need touch up periodically like Dustoff79 suggested. Putting down sheet vinyl would be your other great option. That's what we're doing in our new coop.

Go to a flooring store, or Home Desperate even, and look for odd sizes, returns, etc. I spent $50 for the vinyl covering the floor of my coop, and that's only because I was in a rush and didn't shop around. You can find remnants cheaper. If you've got a seam, overlap it a bit and staple it down securely. The floor will last much longer with a good covering.

I used 3/4" plywood. I painted it with 3 coats of exterior floor paint, that way it keeps the mositure from getting into the wood. I also painted my whole layer house 8x8' with the exterior floor paint. It is very durable and better than regular paint.

The Home Depot here had room size vinyl rolls room size (I think it was 9' x 12') for about $18. Very easy to trim and staple down and a breeze to clean.

I went to Bargain outlet and bought flooring. I made the mistake of getting it off the roll... but they had some remenants there that would have been cheaper. A tape measure, a razor knife, and a staple gun, and the floor was in!
