3 chicks and a duckling in the same brooder....anyone have this also?

I currently have 5 chicks and 2 duckling in a giant galvanized trough. The ducks make a tremendous mess(as I knew they would), splashing the water everywhere. Luckily, the bedding I'm using(Nature's Bedding)is pretty absorbent and even though I scoop out the wet stuff a few times a day I still worry that the chicks will wind up with some form of foot rot or something akin to it. They all get along famously, though.

AWESOME!

Idefinately agree with itsjustjen and Sunny_Side_Up. A few years ago i had three little ducklings and four chicks togetherand it was not the greatest idea. It was my first time. When they were inseperable as is how it was when they grew up. When i put my ducks out on the pond the poor little chickens followed and tried to follow the ducks into the water. I had to fish them out. So if when they are older you want them seperated it is not a good idea to brood them together. The best solution is getting another duckling.
