I have a chick that I had to assist with hatching 3 days ago that has a splayed leg. I had to help it hatch because it seemed to be drowning in the egg because it was breathing bubbles. After I removed it from the egg it seemed ok, but it has not walked at all. I have tried making a brace and those have not worked, the chick won’t keep both legs tucked under for very long. It also won’t open its eyes and will not eat anything I give it to eat or drink (I tried giving it sugar water in hopes to revive it). I have a feeling it won’t make it :(

Wait! No, I think there is hope!! Research how to treat splayed leg, (I’m sorry, I can’t find an article right now!) and then try to feed it some raw egg yolk. It might not eat or drink tho, cause the yolk they had in the egg lasts for three days. Make sure it stays warm, and near water or food. For constant food I would mix some chick crumbles with water and a little egg yolk, and make it fresh twice a day. Maybe just give it a little longer to see how it does, please!

Thank you for this! I am definitely not ready to give up hope just yet!
