Hello new friends, and thank you SO MUCH in advance for any suggestions or advice. I grew up on a small 40 acre farm with a little of everything as far as farm critters go. It was more than just a hobby farm, we actually raised pretty much all of our own beef and pork, an occasional goat, and milked 1 or 2 cows daily. Had almost all birds except turkeys and even though they all earned their keep, my little sister and I absolutely LOVED our farm animal pets.
So, after going off to college and moving to the big city for a living,,, hubby and I couldn't take it anymore so we bought a sweet little 23 acre piece of heaven that we are quickly turning into our little hobby farm. I've already raised a dozen hens from chicks and they were perfect. At the same time, I raised 4 Khaki Campbell ducklings, and again, all went perfect. So I ordered more chicks and ducklings and recieved them today. Out of 6 little ducks, one was DOA. I know, it happens, but everyone else seemed to be great. Having a grand time with food and water for the first time. After about 7 hours, we noticed one that is just not right. We didn't notice anything like that when we first put them into their new brooder. But this little guy seemed to be sleeping, away from all the fun at the food and water,? So all evening we've been holding him and are very concerned. I don't know if it's wry neck or a neurological disease. He keeps his eyes closed mostly and doesn't seem to have his balance . He will just kinda lay flaccid in my hand and appear to be napping. Or a little tweeting. If I dip hisbeak in water He will take a drink, But i don't know how long it's been since he's ate. He has strength and will kind of jump out of your hand if your not watching him closely. But he can't walk to speak of and his little neck kinda flops forward or backs sometimes. Could it be wryneck? And he is 3 days old, recived in the mail today, so today was first food and water. Is there a neurological disease or something , will he get better , or is it even possible? Poor little guy.
