Hi I have a 3 day old chick who is quite weak and lethargic can chicks be morning people and not want to get out of bed or is there something deeper

They're kinda like babies. They sleep when they're tired and they don't care whether it's dark or daylight. It sounds like you have something more going on. What do feed him and has he been eating and drinking good? You could try giving him some electrolyte water. That would help boost his energy.

He eats chick crumb I haven’t seen him eat for a while and he drinks though I’m at work most days and I think he may eat a bit. Are there any home remedies I could use to boost his energy

You can make electrolyte water at home. Here's a recipe-
1 C. Warm Water
2 tsp. Granulated Sugar
1/8 tsp. Salt
1/8 tsp. Baking Soda

Egg yolk is a good energy booster also. You may just have to hand feed it when you get home.

Does the chick have diarrhea? (called Pasty butt). (MUST keep the rear clean! Warm water.)
If so, your chick NEEDS a Probiotic!
You can buy probiotic at the feed store
Or, you can do it nature’s way.
If your chick is not with mom, and you have adult hens, get some of mom’s poop and give it to the chick (contains GOOD probiotic!)
I realize this is gross to the squeamish, but nature provides the needs of the babies this way.
When babies are not separated from mom, they go after this stuff! Provides what the starter mash cannot. MUST BE FRESH!
The diarrhea goes away, your chick will then eat and gain the needed weight.

Hi and welcome to BYC.🙂 I've had dozens and dozens of broody hens that raised chicks, and never once have I seen a chick intentionally eat chicken poop. On the other hand, I have witnessed young chicks raised inside artificial brooders peck poop on other chicks butts, then quickly wipe their beak in the shavings in disgust. The look on their face clearly says "Oh, gross, yuck, I must remember to never taste that again."
