I saw one of my Black Copper Marans eggs move this afternoon, but I noticed the thermometer was in the way so I moved it and that egg moved a bit too. After that I didn't see much action. I hope I didn't scare the little chickie. I haven't seen any of the others move. To see that one egg move had to have been the most eggciting thing I've seen in a long time. I can't wait, and I hope they all hatch.

Eggs moving is a good sign. It means the little ones are getting into position for hatching soon. Good luck and keep us posted!

The little egg is still moving and peeping. She (I'm hopeful it's a she) moved really good while I was talking, clucking and peeping to her. I keep thinking I am seeing 2 more move, but staring at them so long I may be mistaken. One we had to get out before it exploded, it was oozing. So I have 7 still in the incubator, but only one is peeping. Thursday was day 21 and today is Saturday. I have no idea if I should help her out, or just wait some more. I really don't want to lose her. We've bonded.

DO NOT HELP HER OUT. If you tried, she would die. Chicks first pip a hole in the egg and then spend a long time, sometimes over a day, absorbing the yolk and blood vessels. To try to get her out too soon would make her bleed to death. All you should do for her is keep the bator closed, humidity up and wait. She will know when it is time.

Helping too soon can be disastrous for the chicks, but assisting can be successful too. Before you decide to help your chick have a look here:

Good luck!
