Tragic week for my family. Our dog broke a hole in the coop to eat food scraps. The smaller chickens got out. He killed 3. On top of that, my problem now is that the one that survived is clearly shocked and injured, and when I put her in the coop, the one remaining hen attacks her. How can I tame the mean one. She was always the bully but there were 4 other chickens to distribute the meanness, now I only have the meanest and the weakest left. I need to put them together in the coop, but I fear the healthy one (huge Delaware) will kill my sweet Orange Orpington (kind of small). Any ideas? I have the Delaware in a crate next to the coop - But need to put her back in the (reinforced) coop for her own safety. i'm so sad by our loss and can't think clearly.
