3 eggs and now there was 4

What a surprise I had last night when I went to check on the girls and found 4 eggs instead of the usual 3. It seems that one of my pullets has become a big girl.

I bought 10 chicks on 3/20/15 and I know one is already laying since I've gotten three HUGE eggs that didn't match the kind my other hens lay. Two days ago I found another pullet egg, one that was a bit rubbery, in the coop so I think I have another over achiever ready to lay a couple months early. I'm not complaining at all. Especially since I wasn't expecting layers at all. They were supposed to be meat chickens.

Sounds like you got an added bonus with meat chickens and eggs too. I'm not to familiar with meat chickens -- but I guess an egg is an egg right.

So how do you cook your older hens --- we had to put down a young rooster and we cooked it all day then made chicken n noodles. The meat was tough and stringy. Bummer -- We weren't to happy.
BTW -- today 2 more young girls started laying. Not sure which ones -- 3 down and 3 more to go.
 
I cooked my last one on low heat all day with a few spices. I then tore the pieces into very small bits. If the meat is small enough, you won't even be able to notice any strings. ;) I actually cooked it all day then left it in the fridge overnight for supper the next night. You know how sometimes things taste better after a trip to the icebox.
