For brand new layers, it's actually a pretty normal glitch. Just like multiple yolks getting released at once, or no yolks getting released (wind egg).

Can you eat a wind egg?

Sure. It's just a yolk-less egg. How many time have you seen a recipe that calls for only egg whites? I would save it for that very use!
