3 mama hens for babies

is it common for more than 1 mama hen to adopt the babies? i had 3 broody hens, not all eggs hatched for all the hens so they've kinda got a commune going with 5 babies now. 1 hen will run a bluejay away while the other mama shows them how to eat, etc... it's amazing to watch

Not common but I've seen it happen. As long as none of the moms are hurting the chicks I think it's great when that happens. The more the merrier.
