In the Brooder
I have a 3 month old chick i found being trampled by its flockmates. When i picked it up i found it to be quite lethargic and underweight. I gave it some molasis water with some vitamin/electrolyte solution and perked it up a bit. It then had a watery yellow poop. Upon looking that up found it could be worms. So i dosed it with the only wormer i had and a few worms 10-15 or so were pooped out. It is doing better except that its crop feels like a deflated balloon with water and air in it. It is eating and drinking fairly well. Its weight is increasing. Its poop was looking normal and formed. Now im noticing when it bends to eat water and thin mucus comes out of its beak. Not its nostrils. It literally looks like it is vomiting. I took its food away overnight so i could check the crop this morning. It still felt like a deflated balloon so i took it outside and emptied the crop completely. Once back in it ate and drank lots but again started with the bringing up of water/thin mucusy. I am awaiting valbazen to be delivered today i am going to dose all my chickens, but in researching i couldnt find anyone who said the fluid was coming out of the beak. Its breathing fine except when the fluid is brought up and is only momentary until the fluid clears. Then its fine again. Now its back to the yellow watery poops. Im just at a loss. Today is day 4 of treating it. And i apoligize for calling the chick an it. But we dont name our chickens until we know the gender and see its personality.
