3 month old chickens losing feathers, molting or parasites?

I have 5 girls and they are losing feathers, they don't have any bald spots, just a lot of feathers everywhere. It kinda looks like a feather pillow in and around yard. They are also ruffling themselves a lot. I am wondering if they are molting or maybe have mites/ lice? Read up on molting and have been feeding more protein as treats to diet. They are not free-range, although we do try to let them out supervised in evening (we live in country with a lot of natural predators and also have cats). Keeping coop/yard as clean as we can (chickens are messy!), yard twice a week, clean under roost in coop more frequently, especially since has been hot. Usestraw in coop. Sounds like a juvenile molt.
