I always thought it was genetic, but I just read a great article "Crossed beak overview from MY Pet Chicken" that says it is caused by the chick not positioning itself correctly for hatching, a vitamin deficiency, injury or infection. They say a crossed beak can be - - but is not commonly - - a genetic issue, even though it's often mistaken for one. Interesting!Crossbeaks are genetic?
