3 picking on 1 - Help!

I'd get 2 more pullets the same age as her, should be easy enough as she is now 'point of lay' which is when a lot of places (here at least) seem to sell them. then if you can split the coop / run for the 3 younger ones and let them all see but not touch for a few weeks then integration 3 to 3 should work a lot better.

Hi everyone, I wanted to get some advice from the chicken pros out there. I have 3 1-year old Rhode Island Reds and 1 5-month old Americauna all in the coop together. There were 3 Americaunas originally, but sadly we lost 2 to coyotes. When there were 6 in there at first, the Reds picked on the younger ones but I felt like they were going to eventually work it out. Now that it’s 3 against 1, I feel bad for the lonely Americauna who is still harassed by the Reds. There are brief moments when she’ll perch out in the run with them but for the most part she stays inside the coop. She has her own food and water in the coop and she does hang in the the run when I let the other girls out to run free for a few hours. My question is, will this relationship improve as the Americauna gets older? Is it worth it to get a couple Americauna chicks to raise to hopefully be her buddies? Sorry this is so long winded. I really appreciate any help. - Josh
Welcome to BYC @MrJoshPeters!
Hard to say if adding more will help at all...it might, or might not.
She may welcome new birds, or rebel just as her elders are doing.
She's a month or so way from maturing to point of lay,
which will up her status in the flock.
Much may depend on the size of your coop and run,
more info may help as well as knowing....

It's easy to do, then it's always there!
