Hello, we recently got 3 more silkie chicks to add to our flock and they are now about 4-5 week old and they are all looking so different from each other. From the research I have done I believe one is a sizzle and one looks just like the other one we already have. But the third I am just not sure on. It was the runt of the group and the breeder gave her to us for free because she was not sure it would make it. Well it is still going strong just a little smaller then the others. Any ideas? Or if I am wrong about the other 2 please let me know. We have had chickens for a while and we are not picky on what we have(just keeping our fingers crossed they are all girls) just curious what they are is all. I posted pictures of each separate and all three together.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

Pic one is a boy, noted by the huge (wide) comb. :hmm

Pic 2 is a cross breed IMO.

Pic 3 is frizzle or sizzle, I don't know the difference yet. And noting the feather pattern, I think also a cross. But I learn something new every day.

How much did you pay? Did the "breeder" disclose they wouldn't be Silkied?

A Sizzle is a frizzled Silkie. A Frizzle is a frizzled smooth feather chicken breed

Hey all I got from an individual breeder that is local to me. She is where we have always gotten our chicks and has always been very honest and had great birds. We wanted silkies so that is fine with us. We are not picky either way as we just like them all the way they are and don't really care about breed. We paid $5 a piece for them except the one was free because she really didn't think it would pull through it was so so small but my 7 year old really wanted that one so she gave him it. She said it would have a better chance to live with us then with all the babies she had. I thought the one was a sizzle when I look at pictures online it looks just like those pictures it is the smooth feathered one that has me confused. We do have a silkie cross rooster at our house his name is Moe. He was an oops cross between our silkie hen and our black java rooster. He is my favorite and has absolutely gorgeous colors! This is an older picture of him(it really does not do the colors justice) his feathers are much longer and fuller now.
