We got these chickens about 3 and a half weeks ago from Tractor Supply... I went away for a week on vacation, my husband looked after them. I came home and they were huge! haha. Anyways, I thought they would be production reds. Now I am new at this, but we had some production reds before and these have a lot lighter markings in them than our production reds ever had. Just curious...

They are also a good bit smaller than the white ones (leghorns?)

Ya'll are normally pretty good at this. :) Thought I would share...

Well we will see, they seem darker now, and much bigger. Man they grow so fast! I may have to update pictures soon. I also really want to find out soon if we have any oops roosters. I sort of want one, so I will have to go hunting for one if we don't have any.

I am about ready to get them out of the garage and into the coop. Not sure if they are quite ready for that or not!

The white ones look too thickly built to be Leghorns and they appear to have a splattering of black. I'd guess they are a production mix as well. The reds look like production red to me. They may lean more to the New Hampshire side than the RIR.

Holy cow! They're 5 weeks old? Mine are 2 1/2 weeks old and in a Rubbermaid container in my kitchen. I think I may need to relocate to the basement until they're ready to move to the coop (still under construction).

I have raised New Hampshires since I was 4 years old...The reds look somewhat like Hamps but not completely...Probably New HampxRIR cross...The
red in the foreground is a male...so no need to look for another rooster.....The white chickens are NOT Leghorns, probably California Whites.....Good luck..

I think it looks like a boy, too, because his tail isn't as feathered. I think roos develop tail feathers slower than pullets.
