McMurray. It has been 6-7 years since I ordered and I am kind of shocked

They had to cull a bunch of their birds a few years ago. I wonder if they are still trying to recover from that. I haven’t ordered from them for at least 10 years but I think they supplied the farm store where I used to get chicks and I never had any surprise roosters back then.

Oh wait…that’s not true. I forgot about my lavender Orpington. I had the one surprise rooster and he is infertile so…not a good sign.

I keep hoping I am being paranoid about the SLW but it also has almost no lacing at 8 weeks. McMurray keeps saying they are all too young... those 1st two are the roosteriest roosters who have ever rostered :/

Wyandotte lacing comes in slowly. It starts with a streak of color in the shaft and spreads from there. Combs color early, so come GROWTH, with wattles is a better indicator. So far, looks good for a SLW pullet.
