Hello everyone!

I have a 3 week old Turken Naked Neck, last night my niece accidentally stepped on our chick. I didn't see it happen but I heard the chick and then she ran away hoping on one foot. When I examined her, her leg did not appear to be visibly broken, not misshaped or anything. She is favoring the one leg and holding it up. I thought about separating her from the other three chicks but she seemed upset when I did and I didn't want to cause more stress. She slept with the other chicks over night and I did see her eating and drinking before I went to bed. This morning when I checked on her, she was putting a little bit more pressure on it and was standing and walking on it, although not for very long before laying down. I have seen her eat this morning. She is still trying to walk around and then will rest. The base of her foot where her three toes connect does look swollen and her middle toe looks a little injured but not very easy to see. I will try to upload some pictures later, just wanted to give her a chance to rest before I start messing with her again. Any advice and input would be great as I am a new chick mom. Should I separate her from the other chicks so she can rest or leave them together? Should I try to splint it or let it heal on it's own?

Thanks in advanced!

Pictures may help. I would probably leave it alone as long as she is walking around to get enough food and water. If you really feel that a splint is needed check out the kite-shaped foot splint on page 23 of this link:

Meat foam packaging can be easily cut into shape and even doubled for foot splints. Tape can be used to secure it to the foot.

Thank you! She seems to be walking around on it better each day. I tried to get some picture and a video of her walking. Thanks for the help and advice!
