This is our 3 week old chick who sadly lost it's mother, who was a lemon Buff Oprington. We have two cockerels, one is a RIR and the other a buff Orpington. We are pretty certain this little one is also a Lemon Buff Orpington - we weren't sure before it got some feathers because we have several breeds and our broody hen would sit on everyone's eggs.

If anyone has any other ideas about what breed this little one might be then let us know :)

Just wondering is anyone can hazard a guess at the sex. The comb is looking pinky now which makes me worry its a Roo, which we can't keep. However, I've been feeling pretty sure it was a pullet.
Also wondering when the little one can move to the outside coop with maybe two of the nicer hens? its getting big so fast and is out growing its inside nesting box.

The friendly hens may accept it and may not. Put the little one in with them and keep an eye on them for a while.Sorry no idea on the breed.

Thanks. Let out the nice rooster and the friendly pullet he hatched with to meet the little one whilst i kept a close eye but the rooster kept trying to shoo the chick away aggressively and the pullet attacked it. I think its going to have to stay inside on its own till its much bigger.

I don't know about breed but it is looking roo ish to me. Roos feather slower than pullets. I have two 3 week old "Straight runs" in my basement and they are much more feathered in than him. But that could also just be the different breed development.

sadly i think its a roo to. Haven't any others to compare it to so wasn't sure whether it was feathering fast or slowly.
