enclosed coop is all ready for my 3 week old chicks that have been in laundry room. Mostly 70 degrees in there and down to 68 at night. Light is off during the day and on at night. Want to move them to their cadillac coop tomorrow and the light will be on 24/7 so we can watch their exploring and watch how often they go under light during the day. Will check on them during the night to see if they are under the light and it will get down to 40 degrees. Any comments on this? Just want to make sure we're doing this correct.

That is what I did and it worked for me. My second batch quit going under their light by 3 wks so I just put them out in the coop with no light. That was in May, temps in 70's and 80's -- it didn't get down to 40. Some people prefer heating pads for warmth.
