3 week old chicks.

Hi folks, Im a new member to the sight. I have 5 new babies,well their 3 weeks old now, hatched on Good Friday. Anyway, my question is they have alot of feathers, not alot on the top of their necks or legs, but I was wondering if I could start turning off the light at night? They are still in my house.

are you asking if you can turn a heat lamp off, or just a light when it gets dark out? Is it warm enough in your area so the chickens don't need extra heat?

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Chicks need supplemental heat in cool weather until they are fully feathered at around 6 weeks of age. Check in the Learning Center for a guide to raising chicks.
