Sorry I've been nonresponsive, folks. Duckling Season is a craaaazy time!
The baby is still going
. After consulting with the vet and a wildlife rehabber, it was determined that the best thing I could do was give her sub-q fluids consistently and warm baths to see if she pooped (which she did each time, thank goodness!). Unfortunately, the vet said that even if there was a blockage, she wouldn't do surgery on a bird so young. She's still not eating or drinking much, but I have high hopes that she will. You guys have been wonderful in your guidance. I guess all I can do is continue the recommended treatment and hope for the best.
In the duckling rescue, we sometimes lose the little ones. Typically, they're only days old, and there's no way to know why they pass. The longer they're under our care, though, the more responsibility we feel for them and love them. I have to say that it's good to know you guys are here to give your input, even if you don't all agree
. Thanks so much for your help.
