I have a 3 week old ostrich with a ruptured air sac. She was taken to the vet and got the air removed but it filled up almost on the way home. I will be removing the air myself every day but I would like to know her chances of survival if anyone else has experience with this.

I am sorry to hear about your ostrich :(
Unfortunately, I have no experience but I noticed you had posted this yesterday. Did you ever get or find the help you were looking for?

No I haven't gotten any further information. All I can do is just drain it as it fills up and hope that it heals.

How is she doing?
I am pretty new around here, and I don't know much about ostriches but I am trying to find out information on how to care for a ruptured air sac but it sounds like you're doing exactly what they recommend.
Here is a thread about it as well, except for a peachick:

Have you tried posting this in the emergency section? Someone with more knowledge on that kind of injury may be able to assist you.

She is doing fine. The air sac doesn't bother her and she isn't showing any signs of discomfort. Today she seemed to have less air under her skin and it drained pretty easy to the point where there wasn't much more air to take out. We'll see tomorrow how much it refills.
That's good to know she doesnt seem bothered! Keep me posted, I hope she recovers soon :)

Sounds like a good sign! Does your Ostrich have a name? Also curious, what is it like raising such a large bird? Never knew people raised them until now haha :)

Her name is Cinnamon and her male partner is Chuck (Chuck Norris). I've never raised them before and only acquired these 2 little guys a little over a week ago.
