My sister got a Salmon Faverolles chick 3 weeks ago and when it got it's wing feather we were sure it was a girl but now we have no idea. It's feathers are coming in all spotty. Dark grey, brown and cream and it looks so strange. I have a 3 month old Faverolles pullet that feather normally but find the coloring so off.

Is this just a poorly colored pullet? It really looks like it had started out feathering female and halfway through switched over to male as the tips of the feathers are brown or creamy and the bottom of the feathers is dark grey, almost black.

If it's a hatchery chick, it could be darker than usual. I have 2 pullets from Meyer like that.

She bought it from a local lady but I'm pretty sure she gets them from hatcheries. I got mine from a lady who buys eggs from breeders and hatches them so mine is colored correctly.

Any idea which line? They all tend to develop a certain "look" to them. I think it's a very light colored cockerel.

No idea where this lady gets her faverolles.
